“You cannot claim to have really seen something until you have drawn it”

Moses Tan

Of a Time and Place is, in a sense, a collection of “postcards” – albeit, large ones – of Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo and Kyoto. It's concern is with the “familiar world in which we have lived but whose beauty we could not or would not see.” Like most good postcards, they are a retroactive view of the present. I hope that these images go beyond mere documentation, that they become poetic visions of places fixed in time, all given permanence by drawing.

These works are digital “drawings” – a technique perfected by Moses. Each work is meticulously detailed and takes many hours to complete.
