Michael Kienhuis - Form Of The Good

17 November 2008 – 4 February 2009

Sofitel Melbourne

This bold and contemporary body of work by Michael Kienhuis is a photographic response to the era in which we are living, the built-up environment and our response to that. Kienhuis’s works are comprised of images that represent everyday life through an interaction and reflection with architecture and urban space.

Kienhuis does not hold to the time honoured philosophy that the photographic image is sacred and pristine. For him the click of the shutter is only the first stage in an aesthetic journey that explores the infinite possibilities of computer software technology. For example, some images are worked over in ‘chalk’ using the tools of layering and blurring in Photoshop. In other works, colour and form is enhanced to technicolour in the tradition of Pop Art.
